New England | Day Two

Monday morning we woke up bright and early and headed south back to Massachusetts. It was only an hour and a half long drive from Maine and we jammed to Linkin Park most of the way haha.
Our first stop of the day was Salem. Salem is probably the #1 reason why we even went to New England. Because I have ALWAYS wanted to visit Salem--especially during October. Being an October baby I've always loved all things spooky and witchy. And boy did Salem deliver! It was so much fun seeing all the cute Halloween decorations and the creepy witch shops all over the place! I loved visiting the Salem Witch Trials memorial and the cemetery that sits right beside it too.

Our final stop in Salem was the famous Hocus Pocus house! This is where Max and Dani lived in the movie. It was just a few feet from the water and gave me some serious flashbacks to my childhood when Hocus Pocus was my absolute favorite movie.

Around lunchtime we drove down to Boston. Poor Zach had a hard time with the crazy Boston traffic, but thankfully we were able to get around safely. Our first stop was Boston Common where we grabbed some lunch before our Freedom Trail Tour. I think the Freedom Trail was Zach's favorite thing we did on our whole trip! He was so happy the whole time! Our tour guide did a great job and we were able to see lots of cool sites like the site of the Boston Massacre, the graves of Paul Revere, Samuel Adams, and John Hancock, and Faneuil Hall.

After our tour we walked over to the Boston Public Library which had some amazing architecture. I had a lot of fun taking pictures of that place!

We then had a few hours before we were supposed to meet up with one of Zach's friends from high school for dinner so we decided to drive out to Cambridge to see Harvard University. We had planned to get out and walk around, but man we were wiped from all the walking we'd done downtown! So we just drove around a bit, said "Hi, Harvard! Bye, Harvard!" and headed back downtown for dinner.

It was fun to see Zach's friend Meghan and to meet her new husband, Michael. They just moved down to Boston from Maine this past summer so we were glad we could get together with them.

After dinner we again drove out to Lexington to find our Airbnb for the night. Our hosts were fun and quirky and very nice. They had so many interesting things in their home I couldn't help snapping a few shots the following morning! Zach and I really enjoyed doing Airbnb. It was fun being able to see what the homes are like in that area and get more of a feel for what it would be like to live there.
