one year

It's been one year.

One year of parenthood.
One year of being a family of three.
One year of firsts.

One year of sweet little cheeks.
One year of onesies.
One year of footie pajamas.

One year of diapers.
Lots.
And lots.
Of diapers.

One year of a million kisses.
One year of cuddles.
One year of trying to figure things out:

How to get her to sleep.
How to get her to eat.
How to keep her from screaming.

One year of little cries.
One year of little laughs.
One year of little everything.

One year of worrying.
One year of humility.
One year of tears--

Of laughter.
Of joy.
Of pain.

One year of seeing the world through a child's eyes.
One year of innocence.

One year of on the job training.
One year of working--hard.

And one year of playing hard too.

One year of cleaning:
Bottle after bottle.
Spit up after spit up.
Blow out after blow out.

One year of growing.
Up.
Out.
Too fast.

But also not fast enough.
Because I'm excited to get to know the girl that you're about to be.
But I'll miss the girl you're leaving behind too.

One year of teaching.
One year of learning.
One year of praying.

Lots of praying.

And lots of joy.

One year since I became a mother.
One year since you became a father.
One year since we became a family.

One year since Finley was born.

Thanks for a sweet, sweet year, baby girl.
