north carolina | summer 2016

This past week the three of us flew over to North Carolina to visit Zach's family. Finley is Zach's parents' first and only grandchild so, of course, they wouldn't want to go a full year without seeing her again (the last time we saw them was last Thanksgiving)! Especially right now when she's changing so much everyday! We hadn't been out to North Carolina for about a year and a half so it was definitely time.

We had so much fun seeing family and friends there and watching them meet and get to know our little Finners. Finley was very stone faced around all of these new people. She definitely is not a smiley baby and it takes a few hours for her to really warm up to someone. She just likes to study new people before she decides if she likes you! Haha. It was funny watching everyone try to get her to smile and all she would do was frown or scowl at them.

Zach's parents were so cute with Finley and she definitely grew to love being around them as the week went on. And Zach's great aunt Elsie came up from Georgia for the week and stayed at the house with us too and it was so sweet to see her interact with Finley. She wanted Finley to smile for her sooo bad and I was so happy when she finally did!

We had so much fun spending time with Zach's sister Amy and her husband Keith (who just built the most beautiful house!) and the rest of the Athans extended family too. We sure will miss them all until this Christmas when we can get back there again. I didn't take nearly as many pictures as I planned to (I never do. Need to work on that!), but I did get some sweet shots of Finley with her Gran.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day! Can't believe it's already summer and Finley is NINE MONTHS OLD (with a brand new first tooth to boot)!?!
