Forest | One Month

Where do I even start!? I can't believe it's only been one month with this kid! I seriously can't remember life without our little Forest. The past month has been the hardest and busiest month of my life, but it's all been soooo worth it because our boy is the sweetest.

Forest is generally a pretty happy baby. He really only cries when he's hungry or tired. But when he does cry, boy is it loud! But we can usually get him to calm down relatively quickly and then he's back to being happy again. We are in love with his chubby cheeks and his cute little facial expressions! He is also really strong! He can almost hold up his head already and gets his arms out of his tight swaddle a lot.

I think the biggest challenge the past month has been the transition for Finley. No one ever told me that the hardest thing about having a second child would be the toddler and not the baby! Finley is getting more and more used to Forest and our new normal every day though and I don't think it will be long before she's more calm.

We've definitely had to adapt as parents very quickly over the past month and figure things out as we go along! We all love Forest though (even Finley) and he brings us so much joy. We can't imagine him not being in our family!

Weight: At his two week appointment he weighed 9 lbs 7.4 oz. I wouldn't be surprised if he's well over 10 pounds now!

Height: Again, at his two week exam he was 21.75 inches tall.

Hair: Forest has the most adorable white blonde hair! It's decently long in the back and on the sides, but pretty much just peach fuzz on the top. Finley's hair was kind of like that too when she was a baby, but definitely not as light!

Eating: Forest latched on super well right away when he was first born and breastfed for the first couple weeks. But after lots of prayers and tears I figured out that breastfeeding just isn't for me. He's been exclusively formula fed for two weeks now and we are all much happier! He's a hungry boy and does about 4 oz. every 3 hours at the moment.

Sleeping: We are just starting to get him to go about 4-5 hours between feeds during the night. He's on a pretty good schedule already where he goes to bed between 8:30 and 9:30 and then wakes up between 12:00 and 2:00. And then usually wakes up again around 5:00. It was around this time that Finley did her first 6 hour stretch at night so I keep getting my hopes up that tonight will be the night he sleeps longer!

Likes: Forest loves to be held all the time. He's a big snuggler and particularly loves sitting up and looking around at things. He likes staring out windows and at ceiling fans and looking at our family pictures. He also loves his swing and will sleep pretty well in his carseat.

Dislikes: He hates being left on the floor by himself for too long. And he's kind of impatient in general haha! He has a really loud cry and will scream if he is super hungry or super tired.

Milestones: First doctor's visit, first car ride, first bath, first growth spurt, and first nail trimming.
